Basement After...

Here is the basement finished for the most part. When we first moved in we just concentrated on repainting the upstairs so the basement is finally getting some attention. I love the look of darker doors so to create this look on a budget we went to the local Home Depot and picked up some porch, patio floor paint in a dark walnut shade. It's hard to see the doors in these pictures, but what you can see of them I hope helps.

Basement Before...

I am going ahead and posting the pictures of the work we're doing on our basement during Russell's spring break. Here is a picture of my wonderful husband working on the board and batten for our hallway in the basement.  We are excited to get this painted and looking as good as we can make it! Russell just ran to Home Depot to get the wood and told me it only cost around $25 for it all. Other than that you'll need a primer and white paint to paint it.

Being with eachother

Can I begin by saying that I LOVE being with my husband. Seriously could spend every moment of every day with him. As some of you know he does school full-time and works full-time so this has severely cut back on our time together. We are lucky that he usually has an hour break to come home and have lunch with me. But our only date night that he does't work is Wednesday nights which if you knew Russell is the Young Men's president in our ward so he has to be at the young men activities that night at seven. My boss was so sweet and allowed me to get off earlier on Wednesdays so Russell and I could still have some form of a date. This Wednesday we went to Happy Sumo to have some fried sushi (cause that's the only kind you can have while pregnant), and than we went to Menchie's to have some free frozen yogurt due to my birthday. We were loving the weather so much we just decided to stop and take a walk on the Jordan Parkway. I wish we both could have an entire weekend off to go somewhere and just be with each other 24/7.

I see you lucky couples out there that get more time together and all I can say is seriously enjoy it and soak it up! This has caused me to reflect back on when we first got married and had all the time together. Russell owned his own business trimming/pruning/cutting down trees and therefore would work just 2 or 3 days of the week while I was working full-time. I remember feeling jealous at that time that he had more free time and this would put me in a bad mood so that even when I got off work I wasn't the friendliest to hang out with. If I could do it over I'd appreciate the work he was doing and realize that this time was special we had together! I'd completely power off my cell phone when I was off work and just spend that time with him. Eating, talking, having fun, playing games, or just cuddling. I hope that every couple will take this advice and make the most of the time they have together to be together!!!! I realize now how important it is to take advantage of the moments we're in instead of being depressed looking back on the past, or anxious looking towards the future. We need to be present and to LIVE in the moments that we are in. I hope to do this more and be more present and loving!

Gender Reveal Party

We found out on my birthday whether we were having a girl or a boy. We wanted to make this more surprising for our families and friends so we kept it a secret till Sunday night for a gender reveal party. We want to thank everyone who came out for the mini event!!! We were surprised how packed it got!! We love you all, and are so excited we got to share the news this way!

IT'S A GIRL!

Birthday Celebrations

On March 1st (Friday) I turned the big 24! I woke up being delivered breakfast in bed by my sweet AMAZING hubby of a man! He cooked me scrambled eggs which are always a favorite for breakfast for me! I also, loved his thoughtful sweet note that came with the breakfast. After I walked out of our bedroom I came to find decorations that consisted of balloons, streamers & a cute setup on the kitchen table that had roses and a handmade sign spelling out Happy Birthday.

We went to our ultrasound appt at 11 am to find out if we were having a boy or a girl! It was amazing and so hard to keep a secret tell the gender reveal party that Sunday but we were determined to. After the appt we split a lunch at Chiptole's and went to see the movie Beautiful Creatures. After the movie we came home and looked through some kid photo albums of myself, and played with the puppy. For dinner Russell took me to this local buffet that is everything Chinese food! It honestly looks a little scary on the outside but the food in the inside is worth it. After dinner we came home and had a surprise visit by Russell's parents which was fun! And Russell and I ended the night eating blackberry pie in bed. I loved my birthday and love being able to spend the entire day with my hunk of a man!
